The first thing I noticed about this trumpet is how very HEAVY the thing is. The bottom valve caps must weigh at least a pound each, ha ha. But then I played it....
Buttery smooth Jazz perfection. I've owned a Strad for several years now, and while great for classical, it just never did the job for Jazz. So, after hearing a friend of mine go off on how much he loved his Giardinelli 812, I did the unthinkable...I got the trumpet without ever playing it. Risky? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely.
The sound is phenominal, one of the warmest I've ever heard. Even the stock mouthpiece is good (but my Monette B2 is definately better).
The only thing I'm complaining about, is that the case that was sent to me was not the one shown. Instead, it's some flimsy plastic thing that feels like it's going to fall apart every time I pick it up. That's easily changed, though.
